Uttar Pradesh Minister Shivpal Yadav today charged the BJP with playing with emotions of people and vitiate the communal harmony by promoting communalism.
"The only agenda of BJP is to play with emotions of people and promote communalism. They have always used this tactics and tried to vitiate the communal harmony," Yadav said when asked to comment on Union Home Minster Rajnath Singh's statement in Ayodhya on Sunday that the NDA government could not bring a legislation to construct Ram temple as it did not have a majority in the Rajya Sabha.
The UP PWD Minister also hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his tour of foreign nations saying, he was always on foreign tours whereas farmers in his own country were facing "huge crisis" due to natural calamity and even committing suicide.
"PM is not at all worried for the people of his own country," he told reporters on the sidelines of the meeting of Uttar Pradesh Journalist Association (UPJA) executive here.
Yadav further said UP government had exempted all accredited journalists from paying toll tax that falls under state government's jurisdiction.
"The request, however, in this regard was turned down by the Centre," Yadav said.
He hailed the role of print media, saying it still has its "vast reach" in the rural areas which helps in spreading awareness among rural people and also carries "unbiased news".
He said, great leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Ram Manohar Lohia and others have taken the support of media to achieve their goals and also to bring change in the society.
