Accusing the Congress Government in Karnataka of being in "deep slumber", Karnataka BJP today sought Governor Vajubhai Vala's intervention to bring the administration back on track.
In a memorandum signed by state BJP President Prahlad Joshi and former Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok along with other leaders, the party drew his attention to the "maladministration" under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for the last seventeen months.
It said the government was yet to start functioning and the state has suffered immensely in the first year of its term due to its 'indecisiveness'. "The state is at present reeling under the lawlessness at all levels", it added.
Flaying the government on several issues including its handling of attack on woman IAS officer Rashmi Mahesh, child abuse at schools, attack on people from North East community and government doctors' resignations, it said "the state government is unable to control crimes on our daughters, which shows grim face of lawlessness in the state."
It also requested the Governor to direct the Chief Minister to sack Minister for Municipal Administration and Wakf Qamarul Islam and allow legal proceedings to carry forward without any hindrance or undue ministerial interference.
Islam is accused of encroachment and sale of wakf property in Gulbarga. Lokayukta police have recently registered an FIR against him following a direction from the High Court.
The party also said infighting among top leaders in Congress and corruption at top level and "ineffective governance" had ruined the state to no end.
It said "in this background we request you to take cognisance of the deteriorating situation in all aspects of governance in the state of Karnataka and to take necessary steps under the constitutional guidelines to bring back the administration on right track.
