BJP to enrol women members on 'Maximum membership day'

BJP said on Saturday that the party will observe 'Maximum membership day' on the death anniversary of its leader Vijayaraje Scindia on January 25, wherein women across the state will be enrolled as party members.

The decision was taken during a party meeting to review membership drive of the party in Uttar Pradesh, which was chaired by state in-charge Om Prakash Mathur and attended by state president Laxmi Kant Bajpai.

BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that it has been decided that Mahila Morcha would observe death anniversary of Scindia as 'maximum membership day' wherein women would be enrolled as the party members.

"It has also been decided that third phase of the membership will be carried out between February 8 to February 11," he said.

On the death anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya on February 11, BJP would make efforts to enroll maximum number of members in the party, he said.

Pathak added that the party has enrolled over 92 lakh members in UP so far during the membership drive.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah had launched the drive on November 1 last year.
