"The focus is to strengthen the party in seven eastern and southern states like West Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Tamil Nadu through systematic and aggressive programmes," BJP's All India General Secretary P Muralidhar Rao told reporters.
The party would use its national training programme 'Maha Prashikshan Abhiyan' to consolidate its position in these states, which are now being ruled mostly by regional political parties, he said.
Claiming that BJP was gradually replacing Congress as the main Opposition in states being ruled by regional outfits in eastern and southern regions, Rao said the process would pave the way for BJP to occupy the top position.
The BJP general secretary, who is overall in-charge of the training programme, said workshops are being held in every state to apprise the trainers about the task of guiding all 11 crore workers enrolled in the party.
He said 10,000 trainers have been identified across the country to groom the 15 lakh prospective trainers on the core ideological mooring and political mission.
Technology would be used extensively during the programme, Rao said, adding challenges before the nation and need for good governance would also be discussed thoroughly during the training programme which would be participatory.
