Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, a wave of forming BJP governments started in the North East and Tripura will be a part of it in 2018.
"BJP has formed governments in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. It will also form a government in Manipur after the election results are out tomorrow.
"A wave of forming BJP governments has started in the North-East after Modiji became the Prime Minister. Tripura will also follow the way in the 2018 Assembly elections," Sonowal said while addressing a public gathering here.
The Tripura unit of BJP organised the gathering to press for a CBI inquiry into the murder of its leader Chanmohan Tripura allegedly by activists of the ruling CPI-M at Gandacherra in Dhalai district in December last year.
Stating that the Tripura Government was "corrupt and inefficient", Sonowal said despite being a power surplus state, it could not woo investment.
"They have no political will. Though very less power is generated in Assam, yet the government has recently brought investments worth Rs 10,000 crore. Despite being a resourceful state, Tripura remains backward because the Left has no will to work and deliver the good to the people," he said.
Sonowal alleged that the Manik Sarkar government in Tripura was involved in chit fund scams and was only interested in siphoning off public money.
"Yet, they keep accusing the Centre of depriving the state financially," he said.
BJP general secretary Ram Madhab said "Crime rate and crimes against women in Tripura are very high and women are not safe in the state."
He alleged that four MLAs and one minister were murdered during the Left regime and said where lives of people's representatives were not safe, there was no safety and security to the lives and property of the common people.
