The acitivist Usha Gayen had to be hospitalised when she along with two other women activists of the saffron party were allegedly beaten up and their forms torn up during an altercation over filling up the form.
The form filling was being done by Bablu Pandit, husband of the Ward no 18 BJP councillor Rekha Pandit who was not present in the area.
Rekha Pandit later alleged the local TMC goons attacked her party supporters to gain control of the BJP stronghold and used the ration card form fill-up issue as an excuse.
However, local TMC leadership denied any of its members were involved in the incident and said members of the public attacked BJP councillor's husband and her companions when they were showing favouritism in filling up the forms for the poor.
