BJYM activists protest outside Sandeep Dikshit's residence

Scores of activists of the BJP youth wing staged a demonstration outside the residence of senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit today in protest against his "derogatory" remark against the Army chief.
Police put up barricades on the roads leading to Dikshit's residence in Nijamuddin in south-east Delhi to stop the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists.
However, two BJYM members handed over a "get well soon" card sent by the BJYM president and Lok Sabha MP Poonam Mahajan at Dikshit's office, said the BJP youth wing media in-charge Shivam Chhabra.
Dikshit, the son of former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, had on Sunday triggered a row after he likened Army Chief General Bipin Rawat to a "goon on the street" over the latter's public remarks, prompting the BJP to demand his expulsion and an apology from Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The Congress was quick to distance itself from the remarks of Dikshit, who, following criticism, was forced to withdraw his remarks and apologise.
The BJYM criticised Dikshit's remark for "lowering" the national esteem, besides "hampering" the morale of the Army.
"Such unwanted comments and derogatory remarks result in the lowering the national esteem. It hampers the morale of the Army," said BJYM national general secretary Sourabh Chowdhary.
The demonstration was attended by various BJYM leaders including Delhi unit general secretary Impreet Singh Bakshi and national secretary Sourav Sikdar.
