BKU sits on indefinite dharna for fixing of sugarcane price

Members of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) sat on an indefinite dharna at the District Collectorate here to press for their demand of fixing the price of sugarcane.
The Uttar Pradesh government should announce sugarcane price immediately and fix the rate at Rs 425 per quintal, BKU General Secretary Rakesh Tikait said at the dharna yesterday.
A 20-point memorandum in this regard was sent to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav through the district authorities here, he said, adding the dharna would continue on the second day today.
