RSS-backed Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) said today that it is organising a march to Parliament on Friday to press for its demands including 'equal pay for equal work' across sectors.
It said the purpose of this massive programme is to mount pressure on the central government to change its perception and approaches towards workers and the issues facing them.
"All the 44 all India federations of BMS will submit their Charter of Demands besides Central demands to Finance Ministry Arun Jaitley," the BMS said in a statement.
It said BMS is going to organise a huge rally on November 17 at New Delhi where lakhs of activists from all the states including far distant areas like Manipur, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andaman will participate.
A sizable number of women activists will also participate, it said, adding that the march will have a combination of various sectors -- organised, unorganised, private and government.
The main demands includes resolving long pending issues of Aanganwadi workers and other schemes for workers as well as implementation of equal wages for equal work in all sectors.
They also cover ending all forms of contract labour and to provide them pension and other social security benefits including medical facilities.
Besides, they want 200 days jobs to MGNAREGA Workers.
The BMS also wants government to stop curtailing workers rights in the name of Labour Law reforms and implementation of minimum wages in all types of industries/establishments at all levels, Increasing funds to Unorganised Sector Workers welfare Fund.
The charter of demands will be submitted to Jaitley, who is the Chairman of Inter Ministerial council formed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look into the worker issues. The IMC consists 5 ministers.
