A Boeing 777 plane operated by South Korea's Asiana Airlines crashed while landing at the San Francisco International Airport today.
The flight No 214 was coming from Seoul, the South Korean capital, the US Federal Aviation Administration said.
Immediate cause of the crash was not know, neither was the number of injured or any casualties.
Live television pictures showed the plane was badly damaged, in particular its middle portion.
The plane is believed to have crashed on landing apparently due to failure of the landing gear.
In a video posted on Youtube, passengers were seen jumping down the inflatable emergency slides.
