At least two Pakistani soldiers were killed today when a bomb planted in a motorcycle exploded in the country's restive northwestern region.
The bomb, targeting security forces, struck at an army vehicle that was heading towards Warsak from Peshawar. It was planted in a parked motorcycle and went off when the vehicle reached at Methra.
The explosive was said to be detonated with the help of a remote-controlled device.
After the blast, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack.
Superintendent of Police Rural Shakirullah Bangash said that it was a remotely controlled blast and four to five kilogrammes of explosive was used.
Soon after the blast, the security forces cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt to nab the militants. The army vehicle was damaged and the motorcycle was completely destroyed due to the explosion.
Peshawar is located close to country's tribal regions, which militants often use as shelters.
Several militants have been killed in the past a few months as army has launched Zarb-i-Azb operation against Taliban in North Waziristan. Khyber-I operation was also launched against militants in the Khyber tribal district.
According to officials, the operations will continue till the extremists are completely wiped out.
