Leading French beauty company L'oreal has collaborated with Indian dermatologists for a book that aims to shed light on modern cosmetic dermatology and define preventive measures for protection of hair and skin.
Titled "Basic Science for Modern Cosmetic Dermatology," the book has been co-authored by 24 Indian dermatologists and 24 L'Oreal research and innovation experts.
"The objective of this book was to gather the most recent advance in basic science and knowledge in cosmetic dermatology for a better understanding of skin and hair physiology behind pertinent prevention strategies," Michele Verschoore, Medical Director, L'Oreal Research and Innovation said.
Verschoore had launched the book here last evening.
In 16 chapters the tome talks about various skin and hair problems such as pigmentation, vitiligo, graying hair, skin colour types and Indian skin characteristics as well as anti-aging cosmetics, sensitive skin and other issues.
"This book is being distributed to 8500 dermatologists in India and all the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) members. It will also be available in medical and scientific book shops. All the revenue and earning from this book will be given to IADVL," Verschoore told PTI.
The book bring to light the collaborative effort between Indian and French experts and showcases the vast opportunities for knowledge sharing and research partnerships between Indian and French scientists.
"The fruitful partnership between France and India can benefit both the countries in terms of exchanging latest scientific knowledge and expertise in field of dermatology," said Jean-Marc Sere-Charlet, Minister Counsellor of the French Embassy who was present at the launch.
Contributing authors include Somesh Gupta from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Niti Khunger, Safdarjung Hospital, Kiran Godse, DY Patil Medical College and Hospital among others.
