Official sources said senior commanders of Border Security Forces' Punjab Frontier have been informed about the visit and as per the plan, the DG will visit forward locations in that area including border posts falling under Gurdaspur.
The DG, sources said, is also expected to hold a meeting of BSF sector and frontier commanders along with officials of state police and intelligence agencies as part of the overall review of the security situation and defence mechanisms along the IB.
During yesterday's operation, BSF had sounded Punjab Police for any help required from the border guarding force in terms of men and machinery for the successful completion of the offensive.
Seven people, including a Superintendent of Police, were killed by the three terrorists yesterday in Gurdaspur areas before a crack team of Punjab Police commandos killed all of them.
A probe has found that the terrorists who attacked Gurdaspur yesterday had come from Pakistan using Ravi river and apparently had plans to target one more area.
In Delhi, official sources said the probe indicates that the terrorists, suspectedly belonging to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, had entered India through Bamiyal village and planned to target Gurudaspur civil lines also besides the police station.
