Confirming the seizure of narcotics, BSF DIG RPS Jaswal said six kilogram drugs, along with one Pakistani mobile with Pakistani sim, was seized at Border out Post (BOP) Chhanmula.
Giving detail of the incident, Jaswal said the troops were on high alert as intelligence inputs were received regarding threat of smuggling from the area of Chhanmula Sector.
"BSF troops on Indo-Pak border have recovered six kilogram of contraband heroin and one mobile phone with a Pakistani sim near Border Security fence," he said.
Recently, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier Anil Paliwal had issued guidelines to strengthen vigil in border area to effectively check the menace of narcotics smuggling and activities of anti national elements on Punjab border with Pakistan, as it is vulnerable for smuggling especially in the view of wheat crops and adverse weather conditions giving cover to such elements.
