Making light of the BSP's promise to support the GST bill, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said the party had done so without considering losses which the state would have to incur due to the legislation.
"State might face losses...It might not get (enough) revenue in the exchequer and the BSP is saying that it will support the GST," Akhilesh Yadav told newspersons here.
"I don't have to say anything on the BSP because as of now GST has to be debated, it will be the loss of the government...What will be the losses through the GST (to the state) as lesser revenue will be earned...And some people without thinking about it are saying in the House that they will support GST," Yadav said.
"Centre sponsored schemes have been abolished because of which Uttar Pradesh has to suffer maximum loss...We are the biggest state with regard to the size of population...If the GST is implemented how will the state be refunded, what will be its formula (all this) has to be debated," he said.
Mayawati, while speaking in Parliament on Thursday, had said, "If the government feels that bringing the GST Bill will help in furthering the process of economic reforms, the BSP will support the passage of the Bill in Parliament."
Taking a dig at the BSP chief for saying that she would not build any more memorials, Yadav said that when a wall of the memorial is demolished for clearing the way, a hundred people sit on dharna to protest it.
To a query on a several letters written by him to Central ministers for economic help, Yadav said that he will be sending copies of them to the MPs to take the issue up with the Centre in the ongoing session of Parliament.
"We have not received the financial help for hailstrorm- hit farmers and the state is faced with drought...We have to make preparations in advance," he said.
Yadav assured that cane dues will be cleared and sugar mills will start crushing as per schedule.
On his government's move to take control of the famous Bankey Bihari temple in Vrindavan, Mathura and Maa Vindhyavasini temple at Vindhyanchal in Mirzapur districts, Yadav cited the example of Kanshi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi where he said efforts were on to improve facilities.
"People in large numbers visit these places and every government should work on improving facilities for the welfare of pilgrims so that they can have better darshans," he added.
