"Unknown persons broke into the factory on Friday night and decamped with bales of ready-made clothes worth Rs 55,000 and other material worth Rs 40,000, said sub-inspector Dighambar Shedge of Bhiwandi Town police station.
The powerloom unit is owned by former president of Bhiwandi unit of BJP, Siddheswar Kamamurti, and is situated at Telipada.
A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) is registered against unknown persons, Shedge said, adding that the burglars are yet to be traced.
