The incident took place last night when Jitender Negi was returning from Mahipalpur to his home in Vasant Kunj, police said.
Negi's SUV was hit by another vehicle from behind and as he stopped, three men came out of the other vehicle and overpowered him.
For nearly next three hours he was held hostage in his own vehicle by the trio who kept thrashing him.
They also forced him to withdraw money through ATM cards, a police officer said.
Later, they left Negi with his vehicle near Shadipur bus depot around 2.30 AM, he said.
A case has been registered in this connection at Vasant Kunj (south) police station, the officer added.
