The solar power generation facility was dedicated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today.
The total project cost was Rs 3.6 crore and half of the expenditure was funded jointly by Delhi government and Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
While appreciating the project initiated by BYPL, Dikshit said her government has been encouraging such initiatives to produce clean energy.
"For our electricity needs, we have excessively used scarce natural resources like coal. We should not think only about ourselves. We should conserve these scarce natural resources for the next generation. Our country is endowed with abundant sun shine. For our electricity needs, we should look towards the sun," she said.
"In the coming months, we plan to install solar panels atop all our 50 grids in East and Central Delhi. We are committed to finding and encouraging green power solutions," he said.
