Soon after the question hour, Congress legislator Dharamjeet Singh raised the issue of contractual teachers, who had been indefinitely striking work since December 3 and sought a debate on the admissibility of an adjournment motion on the issue.

He alleged as students were suffering due to the strike, the government was doing nothing on the issue.

Legislator Tamradhwaj Sahu joined him saying their party wanted to call attention on the issue for a discussion.

Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik refused to accept an adjournment motion given by Congress saying the issue had already been discussed on Wednesday.

As the Speaker did not agree to the opposition's demand, the Congress legislators started shouting slogans against the government.

As noisy scenes persisted, the Speaker adjourned the house for 10 minutes.

When the House was reconvened, Congress legislator Shakrajeet Nayak raised the issue again alleging that the government still did not seem concerned about the issue.

State Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel held Chief Minister Raman Singh responsible for the strike of contractual teachers, following which the party legislators begun shouting slogans demanding to accept the demands of teachers for their merger in the regular posts of state school education department cadre.

As scene was remained stormy, the Speaker adjourned the House till 1 pm.

However, the uproar continued when the House met again, following which it was finally adjourned for the day.
