C'garh govt to spend Rs 50,000 cr on infra development

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today said his government would spend Rs 50,000 crore on developing infrastructure, rail corridor and telecommunication facilities in the state over the next three years.
"Connectivity is a basic aspect of growth of any region. Chhattisgarh government will spent Rs 50,000 crore on development and expansion of key services like power, road, rail corridor, telecommunication and others in the next three years," Singh said while addressing a Collectors' conference at the Mantralaya (state secretariat) here.
The state government had already completed two years of its current term and the next three years are crucial, he said.

"A masterplan focusing villages, poor and farmers along with the overall development of the entire state has been chalked out and this year will be a base year for this plan," he added.
About Rs 25,000 crore will be spent on expansion of roads and construction of bridges. At least 6,000 kms of 146 roads will be laid during this period, Singh said.
Besides around Rs 9,500 crore will be spent on rail corridor projects of 537 kms, he added.

Similarly, Rs 5,000 crore will be spent on expansion of power grid to ensure electricity supply, while 146 mobile towers will be erected at the cost of Rs 82 crore in tribal areas, he added.

"The entire amount had been allocated and tenders are in final stages of completion. The development works should be hastened as early as possible," the CM said.
Meanwhile, he asked the District Collectors to provide "corruption-free and accountable administration" to the people.
"Priorities of common citizens are the top priorities of the state government. District collectors should also focus on that. There should be stress on transparency and politeness," Singh said.
Collectors should meet public representatives and common citizens every Monday and try to settle their problems, Singh said, adding, "Officers should approach them with courage and politeness. The administrative officers should never display arrogance. All efforts should be made to settle the grievances of the aam aadmi."

He also asked them to treat the public representatives with respect.
