The division bench of Justices Sunil Kumar Sinha and Inder Singh Uboweja sought the report yesterday in response to a public interest litigation on poor quality of roads in the city and other issues leading to traffic woes, said advocate Matin Siddhiqui, the petitioners' lawyer.
The Ex- Servicemen Officers Welfare Association and others filed the petitions in 2011 contending that underground sewage works, poor-quality roads and the stray cattle were causing traffic snarls in the city.
The corporation submitted its report but the state government failed, following which the court had asked the secretary, PWD to appear on April 2.
Yesterday, PWD secretary R P Mandal appeared before the bench, which sought a status report on the condition of roads in the city, and when they would be repaired/constructed.
