Cardamom remained weak and prices fell further by 0.60% to Rs 918 per kg in futures trading today as speculators engaged in reducing positions amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in August declined further by Rs 5.50, or 0.60%, to Rs 918 per kg in a business turnover of 127 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in September traded lower by Rs 2.20, or 0.25%, to Rs 881.50 per kg in 26 lots.

Market analysts attributed the persistent fall in cardamom futures to low demand in the spot market against higher supplies from producing region.
