Cardamom prices rose by 0.80% to Rs 818.30 per kg in futures trade today amid a pickup in domestic demand and restricted arrivals from producing regions.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June rose by Rs 6.50, or 0.80% to Rs 818.30 per kg in a business turnover of 91 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in August contracts edged up by Rs 5.90, or 0.74% to Rs 798.00 per kg in 6 lots.

Traders said fresh positions built up by speculators due to pickup in demand against restricted supplies from producing regions, mainly led to rise in cardamom prices in futures trade.
