Cash rewards for J&K football players

J&K's goalkeeper Vikrmajeet Singh, whose outstanding performance ensured victory in the first match, was given Rs 20,000 while Ishfaq Ahmad, the East Bengal striker who scored the solitary goal in the second game, was handed over a cash reward of Rs 10,000 by the Bank's Sports Board.

Mohun Bagan player Mehrajuddin Wadoo, who captained Jammu and Kashmir team against Mohammedan, Rizwan Ahmad, Aman Thapa and Khalid Qayoom (all playing for local teams) were given Rs 5,000 each.

The Bank also announced Rs 5,000 cash prize each for the players of its football team that emerged victorious in the Police Martyrs Football Championship by defeating Railway Coach Factory Kapurthala in the final last week.

Bank's Sports Board chairman Tafazal Hussain said, "The bank not only aspires for quality football and positive results from its teams but expects self-discipline and fair-play from the boys."
