"A case was registered U/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, on the allegations that the Assistant Engineer of South Delhi Municipal Corporation, Central Zone, Jal Vihar, Delhi, was demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant for not demolishing his building," CBI Press Information Officer R K Gaur said.
Sources said Assistant Engineer Manish Goyal had allegedly issued demolition notices to the complainant to threaten him and to pay alleged bribe.
In a separate case, a Senior Section Engineer (TRD/Electrical) S D Sharma working in the office of DRM, Agra (UP), has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 for showing official favour.
"CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 from the complainant," Gaur said.
