CBI arrests RPF inspector on charges of graft

CBI has arrested an Inspector of Railway Protection Force in Balasore for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from a transporter for releasing trucks and trailers detained by the force.
CBI also carried out searches at the premises of the accused which lead to recovery of total assets worth Rs 45 lakh, agency spokesperson said here.
"A case was registered Under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegations that the accused had demanded a bribe from a representative of Mumbai based private transport company for releasing their two trucks and trailers, which were detained by the said RPF Inspector," the official said.
The agency laid a trap and the Inspector was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from the complainant, a statement issued by the agency said.
