The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday moved an application in a special court here seeking permission to conduct lie detection test on former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya in connection with killing of Kunda DSP Zia-ul-Haq.

The agency moved the application in the court of special CBI judge Mirza Zeenat seeking permission to conduct polygraph test on the former food and civil supplies minister.

The court has fixed June 13 as the next date of hearing on the application.

It has also issued notice to Raja Bhaiya asking him to present his arguments on the date of hearing.

On March 2, Haq was shot dead in Balipur village in Kunda area of Pratapgarh district where he had gone to probe murder of village head Nanhe Yadav.

Haq's wife Parveen Azad had accused Raja Bhaiya of conspiracy after which he had to resign from the Cabinet.

Later, the state government handed over the inquiry to CBI, which last month interrogated Raja Bhaiya twice on May 15 and May 16.

The agency had on May 31 filed charge sheet against five people in connection with the murder of Nanhe Yadav.

Those named in the charge sheet were Ajay Pal, Vijay Pal and Rakesh Pal, who had land dispute with Nanhe Yadav, Sanjay Pratap Singh alias Guddu Singh and his brother Rajiv Pratap Singh alias Raju Singh. Sanjay was Raja Bhaiya's driver.
