“I’m very happy to report to you, the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences will start in the next few months in Bangalore, everything has been done for that with all the official permission,” he told reporters at the curtain raiser meet of the 7th edition of ‘Bangalore India Nano’ conference.
He said, even a director had been appointed and the Central government’s approval was awaited. “When that comes out with a Director taking over, I think there will be a tremendous possibility of having Nano park in that area.”
“Nehru Centre (JNCASR) to which I belong has put up a compound wall around the area which belongs to the centre; it is a 14-acre land which the Karnataka government has given near Nelamangala. It will become active hopefully in four-five months even earlier than that as soon as new director takes over,” he added.
Responding to a question, Rao said the Nano Park will also come up on the same piece of land, adding that the centre will be purely for research purpose. Department of IT, BT and S&T Government of Karnataka under the guidance of Vision Group on Nanotechnology led by Rao today announced the 7th edition of Bangalore India Nano that will be held in the city on December 5-6.
