In a letter to Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said the Centre has sanctioned money for 271 road works, measuring 829.41 km, in six Naxal-hit districts.
Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Warangal and Adilabad districts have been brought under the Centre's ambitious Integrated Action Plan (IAP) to eradicate the Naxal menace.
An Empowered Committee for Rural Development had recommended the approval of proposals for Andhra Pradesh in its meeting held on July 26.
While recommending the proposals, the Committee had observed that the second-tier quality monitoring mechanism in the state is quite weak even though it was being advised time and again to strengthen the quality monitoring.
Ramesh directed the chief minister to take action on these issues concurrently.
