Centre, states working together to strengthen mines auction: Tomar

The Centre and states are working together to strengthen the auction regime and to identify more and more mineral blocks for auction, Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said today.

His statement comes ahead of the fourth National Conclave on Mines and Minerals to be held in Indore this week.

"Central and state governments have been working in coordination with each other to further strengthen the auction regime, and to identify more and more mineral blocks for auction to increase domestic mineral production," Tomar said in a statement.

The conclave will also help in expediting auctions and bring in greater participation from the stakeholders, the statement said.

It will provide unique opportunity to states to showcase their auctionable mineral blocks with regard to its exploration, mineral resources and transport connectivity from the block, it said.

Both public and private mining companies will actively take part in the conclave, it said adding that the metal and the allied sector, which is involved in the mining activity, would also participate.
