Children Film Society of India's (CFSI) latest film 'Pappu Ki Pugdandi' will be the official entry at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Kids 2015, scheduled to be held between April 7 and 19, a top official said today.
The 90-minute film, directed by Seemaa Desai, revolves around Pappu, the protagonist who comes from a lower middle class family and faces adjustment issues in his new school and his interaction with a genie.
The movie comes with a very positive message that there are no shortcuts to happiness and one has to identify one's own strength, said CFSI CEO Shravan Kumar.
Presented every April, the TIFF Kids annual festival, one of the largest such events in world, offers a diverse slate of programming from Canada and around the globe, using the power of film not just to entertain children and parents but also to foster new ideas about the complex issues facing young people today.
"It's indeed a proud moment for us to see 'Pappu Ki Pugdandi' being officially selected for Toronto International Film Festival Kids 2015.
"You may recall that in 2013, another CFSI film 'Goopi Gawaiiya Bagha Bajaiiya', a stylised animation, was premiered at Toronto International Film Festival 2013 and now we have 'Pappu Ki Pugdandi' being selected for this festival. This reinforces our commitment to create value-based entertainment not only for the children of India but also for the world," Kumar said.
He said CFSI had successfully undertaken commercial release of many children's films in India in the past.
"'Gattu' was first commercially released film of CFSI. Marketing and promotion was one of the biggest mechanism which created a buzz for 'Gattu'," added Kumar.
