Taking exception to 'Paryavaran Bhawan' located here allegedly being shown as regional centre of Pakistan's ISI in the movie 'Phantom', the Chandigarh Administration today said it is examining whether the producer of the film had taken permission for shooting in the city.
"We are legally examining the matter. We have asked (Chandigarh) Tourism department to know whether movie maker had taken due permission for shooting in and around Chandigarh," said Santosh Kumar, Director, Conservator of Forests who sits in 'Paryavaran Bhawan' located in sector 19 here.
Kumar said that he came to know about 'Paryavaran Bhawan' being shown as ISI's regional office in Pakistan after he watched Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer 'Phantom' movie himself.
"In the Phantom movie, there is about one and half second shot in which a picture of Paryavaran Bhawan is being shown as ISI, Regional office, Pakistan. The photograph appeared to be of our building. A few people also told me the same thing," said Kumar.
He said he had asked the Tourism department to examine the matter and find out whether any permission was taken from it.
"It is a Bollywood Facilitation Cell under Tourism department which gives permission for shooting in and around UT Chandigarh. If the due permission has been given, it is ok with us. And if permission was not sought, then we will ask the tourism department to send notice and act as per law," Kumar said.
