Not content with the quantum of financial grants announced two days ago, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today asked the Centre to "give clarity" on different issues, including the special category status to the state.
"The Centre should first clarify whether or not it is granting special status to AP. What it has given in the form of financial grants two days ago is very little. While the revenue deficit is too high, they have given Rs 1,176 crore now but it's not clear if it is only an instalment," he told reporters here this evening.
The Centre released a sum of Rs 1,976 crore two days ago, including Rs 450 crore for the capital Amaravati and another Rs 350 crore for the seven backward districts.
"The Rs 350 crore for the backward districts is a routine grant, nothing special," Naidu said.
"What they have given is little. We are discussing what to do now," he added.
