"Around 1.7 lakh tap connections were provided in the state under the NRDWP while a target to provide domestic water connection to two lakh households in an year has been set," a government official said.
As per Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh's directives, officials have been working on a comprehensive plan to provide drinking water on a large scale, he said.
The state government has made a provision of Rs 862 crore in its budget for the 2015-16 fiscal to provide clean drinking water in Chhattisgarh which is 14 per cent higher than the previous year's allocation, he said.
Moreover, they have been directed to purify water in overhead tanks as well as maintain hand pumps, the official said.
