Child burnt to death, four other siblings suffer burns

A child was burnt to death and his four other siblings suffered burns when a fire broke out in their hut at a village in Samastipur district, police said today.
The incident took place at Vikrampur Vade village late last night when a mat on which the five siblings were sleeping caught fire after an earthen lamp fell on it due to strong wind, Superintendent of Police Suresh Kumar Chaudhary said.
The injured were admitted to Sadar hospital where one of them, identified as Rakesh Kumar (6) died during treatment, he said.
Four siblings have been referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in the state capital in view of their serious condition.

The parents of five children were away to another village for matrimonial negotiations for their daughter when the incident took place, the SP said.
