Promising more shared development and less tensions in relations with the neighbours, Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that the perceived threat from China's growth was a 'simple distortion'.

It is inevitable that neighbours will have disagreements, but the key is how to address them, Xi said in his address to Mongolia's parliament during visit to Ulan Bator yesterday.

Xi said as China is growing, some people in the world begin to worry about where the country is going and whether it will constitute a threat.

"It is either out of misunderstanding or is simply a distortion," he said.

Strengthening consensus and solving disagreements through dialogue and cooperation is the most effective way to achieve security in the region, state-run China Daily quoted Xi as saying.

"China is willing to offer opportunities and room for common development to Mongolia and other neighbours," he said.

"Welcome aboard China's train of development!" he said adding, "China is willing to offer opportunities and room to Mongolia and other neighbours for common development."

"A good neighbour is not to be traded for gold," Xi said, citing a Chinese proverb.

Xi is the first Chinese president to visit Magnolia in about 11 years.

Regarded as a tough neighbour, China had historically complicated relations with resource-rich Magnolia.

China's famous Great Wall was constructed in during its imperial history to ward off attacks from the Mongolian tribes and in the modern era, Ulan Bator remained a close ally of erstwhile Soviet Union.

The relations were on the mend for the past few decades.

Both countries on Thursday signed 26 agreements in trade, infrastructure, energy and financial cooperation and pledged to increase their bilateral trade to $10 billion by 2020.
