Top Citrix System executive Vishal Khare has joined SD-WAN startup Lavelle Networks as a co-founder.

Lavelle Networks Inc, incorporated in US and India and backed by strategic and angel investors like IdeaSprings, has seen more than 4 times growth in revenue last fiscal and has plans to grow business by expanding globally and increasing its footprint in the domestic market, the company said in a statement.

"Lavelle Networks, an software-defined wide-area network (SD-WAN) platform for enterprise networks has brought in a new co-founder in Vishal Khare as part of its growth and expansion plans for this year," it said.

Software-defined wide-area network (SD-WAN) is a technology applied to WAN connections, which are used to connect enterprise networks including branch offices and data centres over large geographic distances.

Khare, who was earlier with Citrix Systems as Director - Enterprise business, "will be accelerating and transforming its business in India and overseas," the statement said.

IDC report estimates enterprises spending USD 4 billion by 2020 to make their networks not just cloud compatible, but ready to take on the next wave of digitisation.

"Lavelle Networks is the only pure play SD-WAN provider globally. We are a fresh innovative solution with proven large scale deployments of more than 1500 locations... We have plans to expand our footprint across India and overseas this year, and Vishal joining us as co-founder, is a very important part of that strategy" says founder and CEO, Shyamal Kumar.

According to Khare, SD-WAN category is at the inflection point and next 3-4 years will see all enterprises adopting the same in some form or shape.

Khare had earlier played a key role in shaping and driving Citrix System's partner and enterprise business for industries such as banking and financial services, telecom, manufacturing, and retail. He is also an active angel investor with a portfolio of more than 10 startups.
