Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today handed over a cheque of Rs one crore to the widow of constable Vinod Kumar, who was killed during a raid on suspected liquor mafia in south Delhi's Ghitorni area last month.
Kejriwal presented the cheque to Kumar's widow Savita Devi along with a citation at Delhi Government's Republic Day celebrations in Chhatrasal Stadium here today.
The financial assistance was announced by the Chief Minister on January 1.
In a letter to Savita, widow of 48-year-old Vinod Kumar, Kejriwal had said the government will provide all possible help to the family besides the compensation.
Kumar was beaten to death by the assailants when he had accompanied a team of excise department officials during a raid in Ghitorni. He was on deputation with the Excise Department of Delhi government.
