The Chief Minister's statement came following a request made by Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Legislature Party leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.
"An incident of firing happened when Kambam Nityananda Reddy, vice chairman of Aurobindo Pharma, got into the car to drive home after completing his walk at KBR Park at about 7.15 AM today. As soon as the victim entered the car, the assailant entered from the other door and pointed with AK-47 rifle and demanded money," Rao said in the statement.
"Meanwhile, Prasad Reddy, the younger brother of the victim, came to rescue him and tried to catch the assailant. The assailant injured Prasad by biting on his hand and escaped from the scene, leaving the AK-47 rifle in the car. None was injured in the incident of firing," the Chief Minister said.
The case (No.1387/2014) is under investigation, under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 363 (Punishment for kidnapping)of Indian Penal Code, read with sections 25 and 27 of Arms Act at Banjara Hills police station, he said.
