Cold day in Delhi, minimum temp touches 4.6 deg C

Chilly conditions persisted in the national capital today with the minimum temperature being recorded at 4.6 degrees Celsius, three notches below the normal even as dense foggy conditions disrupted railway services.
The sun shone bright during the day leading to a rise in maximum temperature which settled at 22.2 degrees Celsius, one notch above the normal. It was up by 4.5 degrees from yesterday's maximum of 17.7 degrees Celsius, said a MeT department official.
The city witnessed moderate to dense fog which disrupted rail services, leading to cancellation of 30 trains and delayed of 21 others. Flight operations, however, remained normal.

"Visibility was recorded 300 metres at 8.30 AM which improved significantly to 1,200 at 11.30 AM and further as the day progressed," said the official.
Humidity levels oscillated between 50 and 100 per cent.
The MeT office has predicted mainly clear sky for tomorrow.

"The sky will be mainly clear. Shallow to moderate fog will occur in several parts of the city while dense foggy conditions may be witnessed in isolated areas in the morning.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 20 and 5 degrees Celsius," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the national capital witnessed the coldest of the season with the minimum temperature settling at 4.2 degrees Celsius while the maximum settled at 17.7 degrees.
