Piercing cold wave continued to sweep Punjab and Haryana with Narnaul and Adampur reeling under extreme chill.
A thick blanket of fog also threw normal life out of gear this morning at many places in the region.
Narnaul in Haryana was the coldest place recording a minimum temperature of minus 0.5 deg C, down four notches, while Adampur in Punjab was also very cold registering a low of zero degrees.
Freezing cold swept Amritsar, which recorded a below normal low of 1.6 degrees Celsius.
Ludhiana and Patiala, too, experienced the chill recording respective lows of 4.3 deg C and 4.5 deg C, the MeT office here said.
There was no relief from cold weather for residents of Bhiwani and Hisar, where the respective minimum temperatures settled at 1.2 deg C and 2 deg C.
Karnal also experienced a cold night at 2.4 deg C while Ambala recorded a low of 5.8 deg C.
Chandigarh's minimum dropped slightly since yesterday to settle at 4.5 deg C, down three degrees.
According to the MeT, fog reduced visibility this morning at places including Chandigarh, Hisar, Karnal, Ambala and Amritsar.
There would be no immediate relief from the biting cold over the next few days, the MeT said.
