College student dies after Army vehicle runs over him

A student of the CKB College in Jorhat died in a road accident when an Army vehicle ran over him on the busy K B Road today, the police said.
The student was identified as Biraj Gogoi (18), a first semester student of the college, who was travelling with his friend in a scooty when he hit an Army vehicle travelling in the same direction while trying to overtake the vehicle, Jorhat superintendent of Police Amanjeet Kaur said.
As Biraj slipped and fell on the road from the moving scooty the Army vehicle ran over him leaving him dead on the spot, Kaur said.

The driver of the scooty, Bedenta, received minor injuries, she said.
Students from the CKB college blocked the A T road for over two hours protesting against the accident.
