The government was firmly committed to maintain law and order in Punjab and no one would be allowed to disturb peace at any cost, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said today.
Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of the third day of his 'Sangat Darshan' programme in the district, he said the SAD-BJP alliance government was following the footsteps of Sikh Gurus in right earnest by ensuring peace, communal harmony and amity in the state.
Warning the anti-socials elements, Badal categorically said that law and order was prime concern of the state and anybody, whosoever influential may be, would not be allowed to take law into his hands.
He said due to the concerted efforts of the state government Punjab was one of the most peaceful states of the country today.
Badal said that even the data of the Union Home Ministry has also pointed out Punjab was much more peaceful than the other parts of the country.
He said anyone connected with the crime directly or indirectly, howsoever influential he might be, had not been spared in any major case and has been brought to book as per the law of the land.
In the recent past, three Assistant Sub-Inspectors were killed in the state besides an official of AIG rank was thrashed by some people.
