The committee headed by Amitabh Kundu of Jawaharlal University and comprising seven other social scientists presented their final report to Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla. It was constituted by the UPA government in September, 2013.
Heptulla promised implementation of its recommendations after studying the Sachar Committee report as early as possible, an official statement said.
It was also asked to assess the outcome of the programmes implemented by Ministry of Minority Affairs and other Ministries and to recommend the corrective measures by September 2014, it said.
Sachar Committee, appointed in 2005 by the then prime minister Manmohan Singh, had looked into socio-economic status of Muslims and offered a host of measures to uplift their conditions.
