The accused Bhavesh Mehta, who is in his fifties and who works as Deputy General Manager with a well-known private firm in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, has been booked under IPC section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and the Information Technology Act, senior inspector at Meghwadi police station, Santosh Bhandare, said.
The victim, who is married, lodged the complaint with the police yesterday.
Mehta had befriended her and the duo exchanged their mobile numbers, said another officer, adding that, "Mehta had sent objectionable and obscene photographs to the woman on her phone through WhatsApp messenger in the second week of June."
The victim took the matter with the education institutes's authority, but in vain. She later confided in her husband about it and then decided to lodge a complaint, police said.
