The complaint was filed by local Congress leaders Vivek Khandelwal and Girish Joshi seeking legal action against Kejriwal for his agitation.
Their counsel Mohan Singh Chandel told reporters that Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Shweta Tiwari has asked Central Kotwali police to inquire into the charges levelled in the complaint and submit a report by February 26.
Kejriwal, along with his cabinet colleagues, had staged a dharna in the national capital to demand suspension of five policemen for alleged dereliction of duty. His 30-hour protest ended last night after a compromise was reached with the Centre.
However, Kejriwal "broke" his pledge during the sit-in by calling himself an "anarchist". This amounts to an insult of the Indian Constitution, Chandel charged.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader also made controversial remarks about the tableaux taken out on occasion of the Republic Day, the petitioners' counsel said.
According to the complaint, Kejriwal should be tried under IPC Sections 500 (defamation) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).
