Jarcha Police Station SHO Pradeep Kumar Singh said a "complaint has been received about cow slaughter. Initially, it is being investigated against unnamed accused. Names will be added after investigation confirms the involvement of some person as suspected by the complainants."
On Tuesday, a forensic lab in Mathura submitted its report in a court, saying the beef found in 52-year-old Akhlaq's house in September last year was beef and not mutton as stated by a preliminary lab test done by the Uttar Pradesh veterinary department.
Mohammed Akhlaq (51) was dragged out of his house and killed by a mob in September last year on suspicion of eating beef.
An earlier test said the meat found in his house was mutton, not beef but the Mathura lab report gave a new twist to the whole controversy.
