A facial mapping expert in the UK has used a computer programme, usually used to draw faces of wanted criminal, to digitally construct the faces of the world's most attractive man and woman.
The pictures are the result of a two-month-long study led by Dr Chris Solomon of the University of Kent that asked people to put together a composite of the perfect face using the EFIT-V PhotoFit software used by UK police to draw portraits of wanted criminals.
The software takes into account factors including the thickness of lips, nose length and width, and hairline, The Telegraph reported.
From the results of that survey Chris Solomon of the University of Kent created 100 facial profiles which were then rated for attractiveness by members of the public.
Solomon said the study, which was commissioned by Samsung to tie in with the launch of their Galaxy S6 smartphone, found "some interesting results about what Brits consider to be the epitome of beauty".
"It's important to note that these are the idealised faces according to those living in the UK, so a study in Asia or Africa for example would no doubt have different results," he said.
The study also looks at the ways men's vision of male beauty and women's of female beauty differ from the perspective of the opposite sex.
The study also looked at what celebrities conformed the most to the ideal, suggesting that Natalie Portman and David Gandy were the most beautiful celebrities in the world.
