The Ministry of Power is all set to organise an international conference on energy efficiency at Visakhapatnam, it was officially announced here today.
The objective of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, in conducting this seminar is to showcase best practices of the Andhra Pradesh government to other states and other parts of the world, by inviting energy efficiency experts from across the world, BEE Director General Ajay Mathur stated in a release issued here.
Mathur told AP's Energy Secretary Ajay Jain, who is also the Vice-Chairman of the State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM), that the BEE will technically and financially support AP's Energy Efficiency & Energy Conservation (EE&EC) activities, the release stated.
Jain informed Mathur that the AP government has appointed third party agencies to study the impact of the DELP stage-I programme where about 57 Lakh LED bulbs were distributed in four districts, to estimate annual savings of energy, the proportion of bulbs which are dysfunctional, and other related issues, the release stated.
Mathur said that some major international LED manufacturers in China, South Korea and other developed countries, involved in making fifth generation LED bulbs have shown keen interest in setting up units in Andhra Pradesh, the release stated.
Ajay Jain assured full cooperation from the AP government if these LED manufacturing firms set up their base in the state, the release said.
Ajay Mathur said that other states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi and Rajasthan are interested in studying AP's model of energy efficiency which not only help reduce power demand during peak hours but also help stakeholders reduce electricity bills as well as arrest Greenhouse gas emissions, the release stated.
