Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, leaders of left parties and other alliance partners of the ruling Congress held a two km long 'human chain' agitation here Tuesday to protest proposed hydrocarbon exploration projects in Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory.
The participants shouted slogans and claimed there would be a serious threat to the environment if such projects were implemented.
Farmers would particularly be affected if these projects were implemented, they said.
Recently, hundreds of farmers, along with the members of all parties in delta districts staged a protest in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu against the proposed hydrocarbon and GAIL projects.
They urged the government to declare cauvery delta a protected agriculture zone immediately.
